Diggerland - Kent

Image
Diggerland Medway Valley Leisure Park Roman Way Strood Kent  ME2 2NU Our first visit to Diggerland this week and it was pretty exciting!  You need to pre-book tickets but there is no time slot so you can arrive any time after 10am.  We got there about 10.45am and had no problems parking near the entrance, however there was a 20 minute queue to get in.  Tickets cost £19.95 each (kids aswell although under 90cm tall is free) but it is a theme park so expect it to be a little pricey.  The only extras were the dodgems which you had to purchase tokens for £1 a ride and there were a few coin operated diggers and cars which were also £1.  The indoor play areas are still closed due to Covid. Baring in mind it is summer holidays the queues weren't terrible, when there were several of the same machines it was obviously quicker.  They also had to clean everything down after every go which took some time.  The biggest diggers I think there were only 4, the queue took too long and we abandoned

Bocketts Farm Park - Leatherhead

Image
Bocketts Farm Park Young Street Fetcham Leatherhead KT22 9BS We went to Bocketts farm in January for the second time.  The first time I was mostly carrying Oliver in a sling so he was only about 1 and wasn't quite old enough to explore all that was on offer.  This time he was big enough and brave enough to do it all! This post is about a visit pre Covid so I can't comment on it more recently but according to the website its pretty much all open again now with distancing rules.   When we went in Jan I had forgotten how much is there! It's in Leatherhead, under half hours drive from Coulsdon and a nice drive through country lanes if you go through Headley and avoid the motorway.  As you walk in to get your ticket there is a huge ride on section with various mini tractors, cars and bikes.  Then a bunch of trampolines and a tractor you can sit in and pretend to drive.  All hits with Oliver and his friend straight away.  There is a little cafe in there and toilets.  I didn'

Peter Rabbit Woods - Limpsfield Common

Peter Rabbit Woods Ridlands Lane Limpsfield Chart RH8 0SY Just after the lock down restrictions eased up a bit, we were looking for somewhere quiet and new to explore.  I came across Peter Rabbits Woods online and myself and a friend decided to meet there to see what it was like.  What a great little find!! There is free parking at Ridlands lane however it is a tiny car park and we went before the summer holidays on a drizzly day, so it might be worth checking other places to park in case it is full, thankfully we were lucky! Although it isn't somewhere you would spend a whole day so there are people coming and going. So wellies on, we set off to explore and along the way down the woodland trails we came across little homes of the characters from Peter Rabbit.  At Peters post office you could post a letter, we weren't really prepared but my friend had an envelope so we posted it full of leaves that Oliver collected.  Then a few days later my friend sent Oliver a letter saying t

Hever Castle & Gardens

Hever Castle & Gardens Hever Road Edenbridge TN8 7NG We have been to Hever Castle a few times since Oliver was born and most recently I went last month with my dad and Oliver.  It is such a beautiful place!  Currently due to Covid you need to pre-book online for garden only entrance, which you can upgrade to include the castle itself when you arrive, however we didn't do the castle this time.   It was busy when we went but the grounds are so big and there is alot of open space so there were not many times where we felt social distancing was a problem.  Queues for ice creams, entrance etc. were all marked with where to stand to distance appropriately.  Even the main path had arrows for which side to walk on, although some people did deviate.  Some of the small bridges or narrow paths were one way.  The only difficulty I found was in the toilets but I guess that is going to be a similar problem everywhere.  It's very hard to stand away from people when its so compact, coming

Miller's Ark Farm - Hook

Miller's Ark Farm Blackstock's Lane, Hook, RG27 9PH https://www.millersark.co.uk/opendays.aspx I'm not sure how I first found out about Miller's Ark Farm but it is a gem! It's a fair trek from Coulsdon, it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to drive can be longer depending on the traffic, but in my opinion it is worth the travel.  They are only open to the public on certain event days that they advertise online. This half term they are open and we went today! The first time we went was in December for a Christmas special, you just have to keep your eyes peeled for dates. The farm is not fancy and its not huge, they don't have play areas (other than hay bales) but that's part of its charm.  It is a lovely farm with kind staff who are eager to tell you about the animals they work with and are clearly very passionate about.  But the best thing is that you can touch all of the animals.  You can literally go into the pens with the pigs, sheep, goa
