Deen City Farm - Merton

A free farm in an unexpected place! It's on the edge of an industrial estate next to the river Wandle.  Its small but its surprising how many animals they have.  Lots of birds - chickens, turkeys, ducks etc. then goats, sheep, horses, pigs and cows.  You can buy food for them for 50p.  They also have some rabbits and guinea pigs which you can meet and stroke at certain times for 50p per person.  It has a riding school for horse riding lessons aswell.  Oliver's favourite are chickens at the moment (as you can see the pure joy on his face above) and there are lots of different types here.

There is a small play area, I would suggest taking spare clothes as its dusty wood chip on the ground and Oliver looked like he'd been up a chimney after playing in the play house for 20 minutes...but he does like to get stuck in!

There is a small café and a kiosk that is basic but not expensive, and picnic tables by the play area.  Toilets and hand washing areas for little people are good too.

Parking isn't the best, its a narrow drive up to the farm where you have to be lucky to get a space.  We have managed it both times but we've not been at peak times.  I assume if not you'd have to find somewhere on the roads nearby.  You can also get a Wimbledon tram to Morden Road or Phipps Bridge, both are a 10 minute walk which is great if you live in Croydon!

Although the farm is free you can choose to give a donation (there is honestly no pressure) if you want to donate towards the maintenance of the farm.  Really affordable place to come for animal fans, especially as you can spend zero pennies if you want to!

Morden Hall Park is also close enough to walk to from the farm, we actually went to that park today for the first time for an hour and a half this afternoon and it is really lovely.  The river cuts through and winds itself around the park. There are a few ducks, a natural play area (logs, wooden fort & tyre swings) and a wetland trail.  We only did a short walk today but its a Natural Trust (a free one) and pretty large on the map so I expect there is a lot more to explore there another time.  Definitely take the reins if your little one like to run off as there are lots of areas near open water.  It would make a great combo day to do the park and the farm, especially if you come by tram.
