Tilgate Park - Crawley

We only discovered this park late last year.  Its a bit further than I would normally travel for a park but it has a lot to offer.  They have a nature centre, which I assumed would be comparable in size to crystal palace parks farm but it is enormous! There are so many animals that we did not expect to see including meerkats, wallaby, ostrich and loads more as well as standard farmyard animals.  We spent a good hour or more just walking around the nature centre, its more like a zoo, lots to see and for a very reasonable price.  £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for kids and under 2s are free.

The café is massively overpriced and food was ok, nothing to get excited about.  Next time i'd take a packed lunch if I'm more prepared.

As well as the nature centre Tilgate is a huge park to explore with a large lake and ducks.  I think there is a play area although we never came across that but there was a Go Ape and a Smith and Western restaurant on one side.  There is a large car park but you do have to pay, so if you are going to be there all day be prepared for that.  Another time we went we found a space on a nearby residential road for free so If you don't mind a bit of a walk to the park look at nearby roads.

Its a buggy friendly park! A cheaper alternative to paying out for a well known farm or zoo and its a really lovely park in itself, I would definitely recommend a visit.
