The first time that we went to Paulton's park was for Oliver's first birthday.  If I'm honest I wasn't sure if this was a bit ambitious, Oliver wasn't even walking by his first birthday, but I'd seen online that Peppa Pig world had lots of family rides and it was just something different, so I persuaded my husband. Its quite a trek about 1 Hour 30 mins - 2 hours from Coulsdon but if you set off nice and early it is doable in one day.  The outcome was that we all loved it and had a great (if exhausting) day!

We went on loads of rides in Peppa Pig world, most of which one of us wore Oliver in a harness, which was perfect as we had hands free to hold on and he couldn't escape! He seemed to really enjoy the rides, especially looking out on the high ones.  Around the rides there are some brilliant play areas including a splash zone with fountains where the kids can run around and get soaked! (spare clothes alert).  Just outside of Peppa world there was a little train that ran around part of Paulton's and a couple of car/truck related rides that Oliver could sit in the front and 'steer'.

The rest of the theme park is like most others lots of roller-coaster for adults and older kids so we didn't venture to those, however there is a dinosaur zone which Oliver liked the second time we went with him (he was 2 years old).  Although most of the rides are still for older kids there is a Dino safari type family ride and a T-Rex you can meet (someone in a costume) as well as lots of models of dinosaurs around the place, which Oliver liked to search for.  There are other play areas dotted about outside of Peppa world too with various themes and an area with trampolines!

There are also some beautiful gardens dotted around, some with bushes shaped into animals and some real animals to see - mainly different types of birds and penguins.  this was nice for a quiet stroll away from the mayhem of the theme park.

Food wise the first time we had lunch in the main rainforest restaurant which was pretty expensive, the second time we had fast food from the Dino area which was more reasonable but its a theme park so you expect high prices.  You can obviously take your own packed lunches f you wanted to. Be prepared if your little one likes Peppa Pig there is a huge shop you cant really avoid.

The first time we went was on a weekday during term time and we went on pretty much all of the rides in Peppa pig world with hardly any queuing.  The second time was on our way back from holiday as it was close to where we were staying in Bournemouth  and it was the end of the summer holidays.  It was so busy the queues were ridiculous and we went on about 3 rides all day.  You just cannot queue with a toddler for over an hour to go on a ride that lasts a few minutes.  So that was disappointing as we knew how good it could be off peak.  He did love the play areas this time around being that bit older but its expensive to get in and not do the rides.  My advice would be if you've got preschool age kids take a day off work and go midweek during term time.  Overall I'd really recommend this place for families with young kids and I would go again.  Warning: You will go home with the Peppa Pig theme tune etched into your mind for the near future!

Price wise it is not cheap, its an expensive day out but then all the theme parks are, its something you tend to do once a year (well we do anyway).  Children under 1 metre are free (this is definitely a bonus!) BUT for EVERYONE else you are looking at £30 a ticket.  Its worth booking online for small discounts and keeping your eyes open for deals.
